Helping kids try new foods doesn’t have to turn into a whole thing. With the right approach, it can actually feel fun, low-pressure, and even a bit exciting. That’s exactly why I created these Food Bingo Cards – a free printable that turns food exploration into a simple, playful game you can use at home.

What are Food Bingo Cards?
You’ll get 5 different bingo cards, each with a mix of foods from across the food groups. You can use them however works for your family:
- during one meal or snack
- across the day
- or slowly over a week (or even longer)
Kids just tick things off as they interact with foods. That might be touching, smelling, licking, tasting, or eating, depending on where each child is at with trying new foods. You can use a texta, stickers… whatever makes it feel fun. If you want them to last, laminating them is a great option so you can reuse them again and again.
Why Food Bingo works
This isn’t just a fun game. It’s based on what we know helps with fussy eating:
- Meeting kids where they’re at: Every child is different. For some, touching a food is a big win. For others, they’re ready to taste or eat. This lets you honour that without pushing too far.
- Gentle, repeated exposure: The more kids see and interact with foods in a positive way, the more comfortable they become over time.
- Less pressure, more connection: Turning it into a game takes the intensity out of mealtimes (for everyone).
Rewards that build connection
When they complete a bingo card, you can absolutely celebrate that! Just try to keep rewards non-food based. The goal is to keep food neutral and pressure-free.
Think things like:
- choosing a family activity
- picking a game to play together
- some extra one-on-one time
- a special outing
It keeps the focus on connection, not “earning” food.
Why families love it
- It’s fun (kids actually want to join in)
- It’s flexible (no rigid rules)
- It’s grounded in evidence, not just guesswork
- It adapts to your child, not the other way around
- And you can reuse it as many times as you like
It’s honestly one of those simple tools that can make a big difference without adding more stress to your plate.
