The Family Meal Planner is one of our simplest tools, and one of the most useful for taking the daily "what's for dinner" guesswork out of feeding a family, while quietly building fussy-eater-friendly habits into the week.
What's included
The printable one-page planner gives you a full week of dinners to fill in, plus two small sections that do a lot of work: a "new food of the week" tracker so kids can try something different and log how many times they've tasted it, and a "favourite food of the week" section where kids record what they enjoyed. It's designed to be printed once and used as-is, or laminated and reused week after week with a texta or stickers.
How to use it
Sit down once a week (Sunday evenings work well for a lot of families) and fill in the week's dinners together, out loud, with your kids in the room if they're old enough to take part. Pick one "new food of the week" to introduce alongside a meal you know they already enjoy, and let the tracker record every time it's offered, whether or not it gets eaten. At the end of the week, fill in the favourite food section together as a quick, low-pressure check-in.
Why it helps fussy eaters specifically
Repeated, no-pressure exposure to a new food, without a requirement to eat it, is one of the best-evidenced ways to expand a fussy eater's range over time. The weekly tracker builds that repetition in automatically, and knowing what's for dinner in advance reduces a genuine source of mealtime anxiety for a lot of kids, since the surprise of an unfamiliar meal is often what triggers refusal in the first place.
