The No-Stress Way to Plan Family Dinners

The No-Stress Way to Plan Family Dinners

If dinner time at your place feels a bit chaotic (or like the same “what’s for dinner?” conversation on repeat), you’re definitely not alone. Between busy days, tired kids, and navigating fussy eating, it can feel like a lot.

This is exactly why I created the Family Meal Planner. I needed a planner for myself to make planning meals easier. It's a super simple, one-page tool to take the mental load off you and make mealtimes feel a whole lot calmer (and more collaborative).

So, what actually is it?

It’s a single-page PDF you can print and stick on the fridge. Nothing fancy, just something that works in real life. It helps you map out dinners for the week and gently involve your kids, without turning it into a negotiation.

Here’s what’s on it:

  • Weekly dinner plan – so everyone knows what’s coming (and you’re not answering the same question 10 times a day)
  • New food of the week – one food to focus on, with a little tracker for tastes (stickers, tallies, whatever works)
  • Favourite food of the week – a space for kids to share what they actually enjoyed

Why is makes such a difference

This isn’t about being perfectly organised for your week. It’s about making things feel easier and less stressful.

  • Kids do better with predictability
When they can see what’s coming, there’s less pushback and anxiety around meals.
  • It normalises trying new foods
Instead of pressure in the moment, you’ve got one “focus food” for the week that they can explore at their own pace.
  • It gives kids a voice (without handing over the menu)
That little “favourite food” section goes a long way in helping kids feel heard.
  • It reduces decision fatigue for you
No more 5pm scramble trying to figure out dinner.

Why families love it

  • It makes dinner feel less chaotic
  • Kids actually get involved (without it becoming a power struggle)
  • It encourages trying new foods in a low-pressure way
  • You can reuse it every week (just laminate and go)
  • It helps you figure out what your kids actually like

How to use it

  • Print it and pop it somewhere visible (fridge is perfect)
  • Fill it out at the start of the week - bonus points if the kids help
  • Pick one new food to focus on for the week
  • Let your child track their tastes (stickers make this way more fun)
  • At the end of the week, reflect on their favourite

No pressure, no perfection. Just small, consistent steps.
